Summer is upon us once again and a huge amount of people will be looking at getting away. But its not just holidays that people are going too this year, summer weddings have literally become huge and why shouldnt they be? I mean why would you risk tying the knot in the winter only for your special day to be ruined by terrible bouts of rain?

Moving on, you have probably been invited to a few of your closest friends or families weddings. This has made you also want to get married, but as you know youre partner probably does not want to tie the knot just yet, you keep on pestering your other half but they simply will not have none of it.

So how would you actually manage to get through the whole summer without going insane? Below are a few tips that I have put together that could possibly help you a great amount.

Get Involved
One of the main factors that folk want to get married so much, is because they see that the person that is getting married is rushing around non stop, while you have nothing to do. So try asking the person that is getting married if you can help, even if its just helping with the wedding photography it will make you feel a lot better.

Stay Away from Gossip
One of the worst things when people are getting married is that they only talk about the wedding and nothing else is on their minds. So just try to calm down and stay away from the person, otherwise you will get influenced and want to get married again.

The cost of wedding favors can soon mount up unless you learn to be become budget conscious & a savvy shopper!

Here are ten ways in which you can save money on your Wedding favors.

  1. Hit the Sales: Sales happen many times throughout the year & provide the perfect opportunity to bag your wedding favors at a greatly reduced price. Check out high street stores as well as online wedding favor stores. Bookmark the latter & check back regularly or sign up for email updates so you know when the sales are on.
  2. Wholesalers: Buying from a wholesaler can be a particularly good way to save on favors especially if you are having a big wedding. Be careful though, as it may only prove cost effective for 200 plus guests, you don’t want to end up with hundreds of wedding favors that you have no use for.
  3. Promotions: You will probably find any number of promotions from online favor stores throughout the year. The only difficulty can be in catching the right one at the right time! Find a selection of favor stores you like & sign up for email updates so you know when promotions happen. You may benefit from a great deal just by waiting, however, this can be a risky tactic as you may not get your favors in time for the wedding.
  4. Make your own: You can make any number of wedding favors yourself, such as CD’s, cookies, cupcakes, seed packets & even soaps. Whilst you may have to pay out for the equipment you will need to create them, on a cost per item basis you will save over the cost of ready made versions from the stores.
  5. Buy from Ebay: There is no doubt that Ebay can offer just about everything the heart desires & wedding favors are no exception! You will likely find the same ranges as in the private favor stores but you may well find them cheaper. Also check out the wholesale section for bulk purchases. Word of caution though, check out the seller first & their rating, check the cost of shipping & always pay through paypal to take advantage of their buyer protection scheme.
  6. Buy more than you need: In tip 2 I advised against buying from a wholesaler unless you had more than 200 guests. However, buying more than you need could work in your favor. Consider buying enough favors for 200 guests even though you only have 100 guests & then selling the rest on through sites like Ebay. You will save on the overall cost of the favors by buying wholesale & get your money back by selling on the excess!
  7. Duel role favors: Don’t buy wedding favors & separate place card holders. Instead turn your wedding favors into your place cards by adding the guests names with a tag or label. Alternatively save money on your table centers by using your favors; pile them up in a decorative dish or on a plate & place on your tables so your guests can help themselves.
  8. Don’t buy for everyone: It is a fact that not everyone will take their favors home with them, either because they forget them or simply don’t want them. Avoid this happening by only buying a certain number of favors, say two thirds of the number you actually need. You can place them on a table at the entrance to the reception room at the end of the evening & let guests pick them up on their way out.
  9. Double up: This entails buying one favor per couple & of course one for each single guest. Simple favors such as photo frames work well for this.
  10. Check out best price guarantees: As you browse the online favor stores you will probably notice many of them guaranteeing to have the cheapest prices available. This is a big statement so check it out by doing your own bit of price comparison work. If you find that favors are actually cheaper from someone else then look at the shipping costs & add them to the overall cost. You can then go to the more expensive vendor & negotiate a discount on the price for purchasing through them rather than the other vendor. This may seem cheeky but it can achieve surprising results as part of your Wedding planning!

It seems destination weddings are the trendy way to go nowadays. A destination wedding is a wedding held in a vacation location away from where you live. Some couples choose this type of wedding because it is adventurous and can save money in the process.

There are no set requirements for a destination wedding. It can involve just the happy couple and a few close friends and family or if can be a huge affair. The choice is up to you and your budget. There are a lot of resorts who are working at making destination weddings that are less stressful and easy for the bride and groom. Many resorts at top vacation spots offer package deals that include an onsite wedding consultant who will help with the wedding essentials, such as the marriage license, and the wedding cake.

You can invite just your closest friends and family members to join you in an intimate ceremony in a beautiful location. You don’t have the stress of planning a large wedding or figuring out who to invite and who not to invite. If you have a destination wedding you will have more time to spend with your guests than you would at a regular wedding.

Another reason to plan a destination wedding is it will save you money by not having to have a formal affair with 200 guests. The etiquette for destination weddings says the bride and groom should pay for the guest’s accommodations and food. Airfare is paid for by the guests. This amount will be less than it would cost for a huge reception.

You can also check into finding out how you can get discounted rates for booking multiple rooms. It is possible that the airline you choose has group rates available. You can plan ahead and set up an itinerary of what you and your guests can do for activities such as, snorkeling, sightseeing or beach volleyball. These types of things can be planned ahead of time.

One thing to remember is that you will have to find out what the requirements are for obtaining a marriage license at the location you choose. Sometimes there are restrictions and you and the groom might have to plan to arrive a few days earlier to fill out the paperwork and establish residency.

By having a destination wedding you will be able to relax and enjoy yourself more. Since the wedding and the honeymoon are in the same place you don’t have to rush from place to place. You get to let someone else handle all the small details for you instead of having to run from place to place to get flowers and items for the reception.

Another plus to having a destination wedding is that you get to combine your wedding and honeymoon so you can afford to go to your dream honeymoon location, such as, Hawaii or the Caribbean. You will be able to have the wedding and honeymoon of your dreams.
