Everywhere in the Western world on a Saturday or Sunday when you hear those church bells ringing it’s a good indication that another couple have got married. This is a time in everyone’s life that is memorable to say the least; we all love this day and ideally it should occur only one time for each person. I suppose the three wedding traditions we remember the most are the cake, the toasts and of course the champagne, sometimes with a strawberry in the glass.

From the first moment in the morning to the last thing after the reception, the wedding day is full of wedding traditions we have all grown to love. The scene is set and the bride walks towards the alter and her bride with her father ready to give her away, finally exchanging the wedding rings in a gesture of union. I hope you are prepared for your big day; so tell me someone who doesn’t enjoy wedding traditions? Wedding traditions are split into three distinct areas, the parties before the wedding, the day of the wedding and of course the honeymoon.

The groom of course would probably prefer not to have a bachelor party as he isn’t quite sure what his buddies have cooked up for him as the evenings entertainment. Some people don’t think the bachelor party is a wedding tradition in the truest sense but I think it is fair to say that it is a modern tradition that most people do not want to lose. Bachelor parties can be a lot of fun, providing you are not the groom that is, but something no-one wants to miss out on and I have only been to a couple. Although many bachelor parties are becoming as well organized as the wedding itself, most are still pretty much the same, guys , booze and some dancers if they’re lucky. Most of this celebration is about friendship and letting go of the single lifestyle and notice that I didn’t say it’s about getting buck wild with the dancers. At one time it was the guys who dominated the bachelor parties but the girls have started to catch up and it won’t be long before they compete with the men for party antics.

Without doubt my favorite wedding tradition happens after the ceremony and reception and that is the honeymoon. This is the part where it’s finally just the two of you, hopefully all alone at last for a whopping two weeks or so. In my opinion, this is what most of the money should go toward and even though other wedding traditions are imperative, this is the most fun and personal. This is the tradition that’s solely meant for the bride and groom and it’s about getting pampered, lounging about, and dining at the finest eateries. Some people do not spend much time thinking about the honeymoon but I believe that a two week holiday after a wedding requires some in depth thought.
