Unfortunately the groom wedding speech isn’t a completely free piece of writing – No unfortunately, it requires structure to ensure you don’t forget to mention anyone. It took me a while to come to terms with this, but beleive me, it really does make your groom’s speech easier and it is meant to be a way to keep all of your guests happy as well as create an atmoshere for the perfect wedding day!
Knowing Who To Thank
One of the first things I incorporated into my grooms speech, was to thank just about anyone who had got me to where I was on that wedding day. That is whether it is the bestman, the maid of honor or your lovely bride. And don’t forget the father of the bride!
As a side note – did you know that the grooms speech is the most formal of all the wedding speeches? This doen’t mean you can’t have a joke or two up your sleeve! Click here to learn more: Grooms Speaches.
Don’t Forget The Bride!
You should mention how you met (even though everyone has heard it a thousand times!). This always goes down well, and is a great for all of those who have made such an effort to be there on your big day.
This is an opportunity to praise family members and close friends and throw in anecdotes to show your audience what they mean to you. They may not have had a direct part in the wedding but they may have played a special part in your life.
The important points to remember
- Thank the Father of the Bride
- Thank Individuals
- Thank the Maid of Honor who has helped your wife through the day
- Thank your Bestman
- Thank your lovely new wife!
- Thank the Guests
Remember that the day and your groom wedding speech should be about the love for your bride and the joy you feel of having all your family and friends around. {It really is about keeping every one of the wedding guests happy. And by finishing with a perfect groom toast to your new bride, it shouln’t be that difficult!Even though I was really nervous about my groom wedding speech, it didn’t take me long to realise that it isn’t too hard to please everybody if you’re careful}!
