For many people, their wedding day is the most expensive event of their life. So, what can you do to minimize wedding costs without overly affecting the quality of the occasion?

Arranging your wedding so that you will not be getting married in the peak season will significantly lower your costs. Whilst you probably will not fancy getting married in the winter, the shoulder seasons on either end of summer can offer better value with little compromise regarding weather.

You should spend quite some time visiting various online weddings shops and high street wedding vendors in order to properly compare the prices and value on offer. Enquire about hidden costs in particular because the price you are quoted is not always necessarily the price you will end up paying.

Prices can be very expensive if you are going to book a luxurious hotel or a ballroom. However, these are not your only choices when the wedding reception hall is being made. Try to look for somewhere at a golf club or country club as these tend to be a less expensive option.

You can cut wedding expenses by giving careful consideration to your wedding reception menu. Taking it to the extreme, you will be able to save a tremendous amount of money if you completely prepare the food yourself. If this is not possible, you can still save a lot of money by using your own caterer or by limiting the range of food available to guests.

Finally, see if friends can help out with your wedding arrangements in lieu of giving you a wedding gift. For example, they might be able to help with the catering, taking photos or chaffeuring the bride’s or groom’s car. This will not only reduce your outgoings, it additionally gives them a feeling of pride as they are making a personal contribution that will be long remembered by you.
