Most anybody preparing for their wedding understands that the big day requires a bit of smart shopping, at least if one hopes to avoid being driven completely to distraction by the thought of the event to come. Everything from personal looks to the clothing worn on wedding day to the jewelry that’s to be worn needs to be found, bought and then worn. Making for a memorable day requires some work, after all.
What it all comes down to is the bride, of course, as most grooms would say to just point them to the altar and let the fun begin, right? Today, most brides seem torn between a very traditional look in a dress or something like a strapless wedding gown. Both are equally appropriate, at heart, though some fashion experts may say that a strapless look might be more appropriate for the middle age and younger set.
Today, weddings and all that go on around them is a multi-billion dollar concern and there are a ton of other businesses that — while tangential to weddings, for the most part — also benefit from the activity. For example, take a minute to think about the personal look that a bride (and even a groom) will bring to the altar. Maybe undergoing a little laser hair removal is a good idea, and it’s cheaper than waxing over the long run.
Let’s face it; cable TV is full of shows depicting ‘bride wars’ and other programs that highlight the anxieties that many a bride experiences in the run-up to the big day. Truthfully, almost every show depicts a bride in one stage of manic activity or another, especially when it comes to their looks or the clothing their wear. They’re shown also worrying over the kind of jewelry they and their bridesmaids will be wearing.
In this regard, watch what happens whenever a bride ends up with the wrong kind of jewelry for herself and her bridesmaids. Being saddled with cocktail jewelry, for example, when the appropriate bridal jewelry is what’s really needed, can make for very colorful television. Truth be told, there’s almost no difference between most forms of such jewelry other than the name given it, but try telling that to a seriously stressed-out bride.
Today, it seems that almost everything out there conspires to drive a prospective bride to distraction or worse. Men dread the thought of having to shop for much of anything not related to bass fishing or sports cars and would probably look at the kind of shopping a bride has to do as being similar to being hung by their thumbs. Brides, though, are true shopping warriors and with the help of the Internet can pull it off amazingly well.
The bottom line about the day and why it requires some smart shopping is that most people — at one point or another during the lead-in to the march down the aisle — might say that it’s really not worth it. Eloping to Acapulco might make sense in that case, but eventually; just about everybody looks at that day as one of the happiest of their lives. And when the dress, the body and the jewelry mesh it ends up being very meaningful.
