Much has been written and said about the dangers of online dating, although in general lines romances on the Internet are fun and effective. Some people get good dates and start a love life from a few emails, yet, others have had a lot worse experiences. Here is a list with the most common dangers of online dating that you should be aware of and look into closely.

International dates have often led to financial scams. Do not trust anyone who asks you for money on a dating site. Do not give course to the request and interrupt all communication; that’s the safest way to deal with such a situation. Most of the time, money requests appear only after a certain period of time during which the person has done his/her best to win your trust.

Married people! There are lots of unhappy men and women who spend time on dating sites just for the sake of having fun or to spice up their lives. It is difficult to recognize such dangers of online dating, but with enough care, you should be able to handle things correctly. When something seems suspect, listen to your instinct. Do not turn a blind eye on such details because you risk a lot!

Giving your contact details to the other party could raise all sorts of security threats. There have been many cases when people have shown up on the doorstep of their online dates, even if they had not been given the address. The address can be easily tracked down if the other party has your name. To limit such dangers of online dating, use an alternative email address and a screen name.

Women are more exposed to the extreme danger of online dating such as physical assault, rape, kidnapping and even death. Stalkers will usually make the first step contacting you, and there are fewer chances of finding a bad character if you make the first move. Don’t be afraid to act when you feel like it. And then, try to stay anonymous for as long as you see fit, and when you finally meet, set the date in a public place and tell friends where you are. Someone may even check in to see that you are okay. Good luck!
