As soon as the winter months are over, the wedding season kicks into action and wedding venues start getting pretty busy. The better wedding venues often get booked years in advance, so to get one of these you need to start planning early. Some of the most popular wedding venues in the UK, and places that are certain to be fully booked in 2010 are wedding castles. So what makes a castle wedding such a great option?

Grounds. Castles almost always come with their own gardens, which are often acres worth of spectacular greenery and trees. The castle sits like a jewel in the grounds and provides the perfect romantic venue, but also makes the wedding photos look spectacular. Additionally, the grounds can sometimes be used for the event itself, but this is of course dependent on there being fine weather.

History. Some would like nothing more that tying the knot in a tacky venue with cheesy music playing in the background. Most people though prefer somewhere that has an air of quality about it and actually has some history. Old castles really help to set the scene for a fairytale wedding and have a quality that cannot be matched by newer buildings, no matter how large or fancy. Many people believe it is good luck to get married in a castle that has seen many other weddings, and some people need all the luck they can get!

Accommodation. If nothing else impresses you about a castle, at least they can provide some great accommodation. Most castles double up as wedding hotel also, which is not only convenient, much also makes more of an occasion out of the wedding. Everyone can enjoy the reception without worrying about having to get a taxi at some unsavoury time of night, or travelling miles to the nearest B&B. Also, all your loved ones can be there in the morning ready to see you off on your honeymoon.
