Your wedding ring is one of the most important parts of the ceremony. Designing a wedding on your own can be a recipe for disaster if you don’t know where to begin! Fortunately it is not that difficult to design a wedding ring in most cases due to the following rules.
The first thing you should do is set a strict budget. This is vitally important as it’s very difficult to start design a wedding ring when you don’t have an idea of how much you can spend. If you want a jeweller to create a unique ring for you it will probably cost more because of the extra labour cost, so make sure you take that into account.
Secondly, you need to make sure your ring matches the engagement ring, or at least complements it. In most cases getting the same colour as the engagement ring is the easiest option. If you go for a simple band then this makes it easy to design a ring, but if you want a more complicated design with diamonds or other gems then you must make sure they don’t clash with the engagement ring as they’ll be worn on the same finger.
Next, you need to work out which gems or jewels you would like in the design of your ring. This is where you’ll have to be especially careful of cost! If you deicde on getting a diamond (which most women do), you need to work out which carat you’d like. Of course carat diamond is more desirable, but only if you can afford it.
Lastly, if you’re designing the ring for your partner you MUST make sure they like the design before sending it to your jeweller to be created. This will avoid disappointment on the day, and even if your partner doesn’t like it often a few simple changes made with their advice can make all the difference. A surprise isn’t always the best idea on a wedding day as they are prone to going wrong!
