Traditionally, after guests pick up their place card, check out the wedding favors and then sit down, they know that they were invited to a wedding where they are expected to give a gift to the bride and groom to help them start their lives together. But what about a couple that does not really need anything, has everything they need or the money to get what they need, but would love to give back to a charitable cause. Or what about the couple that is in need, but wants others to benefit from the money spent on their gifts? It is possible and is truly gaining in popularity.

Of course the norm is that the happy couple sets up a bridal registry in several stores so that guests can purchase the items they desire. Many times, if guests do not give money, they take great pains looking for the perfect gift for the happy couple. But what if the perfect gift was decided for you, ahead of time? What if there was a charity that would receive financial gifts from the wedding guests in the name of, and honoring the bride and groom and this is what the happy couple wanted more than anything besides those awesome wine stopper wedding favors that they purchased.

Yes, this does exist. In fact, there are several charities that do this, but there is one that I feel deserved to be highlighted. It’s called the “I Do” Foundation. What happens is the bride and groom use any or all of their many stores for their gift registry. After the gifts are bought through this foundation, a percentage (depending on the store) is given to the charity of your choice in the name of the bride and groom. Not only does it do a good deed, but history has shown that when people know that a charity is also benefiting, they tend to spend more.

It’s very easy to find. Just Google “I Do” Gift Registry. Visit the stores listed and explain to them that you want to be part of the I Do Gift Registry, give them the name of the charity or not-for-profit organization that you want to donate to, and they will take care of the rest. What could be easier? Well, the only thing that could be easier is when they discovered those amazing favors under 2.00!

Now…doesn’t that feel good? Getting married and helping out the charity of your choice! What could be better?
